Edinburg, Scotland: Free Instagrammable spots that send you back in time

Edinburg has been Scotland capital city since 1437 and this is the second large city in Scotland. Because of the ancient air and the history behind, Edinburgh is called "Athens of the North". The combination of both medieval and Georgian architecture will bring us out of a time machine. Let dress up and turn your Instagram feed into a fairy tale.

Note: This list is not yet arranged so please design your best route depends on your stay.

1. The Vennel Steps

If you need to buy ticket to explore closer and deeper into Edinburgh castle, then from the Vennel Steps you can have an overview totally free.

2. Ross Fountain

Beside the Vennel Steps, you may find another angle capturing the castle from the Ross Fountain, located inside the Princes Street Gardens.

3. Circus Lane

Another famous point in the city is Circus Lane, featuring the cozy old houses with flowers and vines. It's better to go in the early morning to avoid the crowd, but please don't break the quiet privacy here in the neighborhood.

4. Ramsay Garden

Ramsay Garden is a block of sixteen private apartment buildings in the Castlehill area of Edinburgh, Scotland. They stand out for their red ashlar and white harled exteriors, and for their prominent position, most visible from Princes Street.⁣

5. Dean Village

One of the most gorgeous spots in Edinburgh is Dean Village, especially over the bridge then get besides the stream. However, this village is worth the shot in every angle.

6. New College Edinburgh - The School of Divinity

This is a historic building at University of Edinburgh but actually looks like a small castle with romantic yard in a foggy film scene. But it will surprise you even more if the winter comes and snow starts to fall.

7. Tolbooth Tavern

The last location today is a free place or not, depends on you. It's a h̶a̶u̶n̶t̶e̶d̶ atmospheric 16th-century pub on Canongate street, but it cost nothing to have some shoots in front of the pub. Or, you can finish the free tour after capturing moments in the front, then start a food and drink tour from inside the pub.

Alright, these spots are obviously famous all over Instagram, but if this is the first time you visit Edinburgh then this list can fulfill your trip in a budget. However, in case you have more to afford then some of the attractions with entrance ticket are really worth purchasing. Otherwise, I'll try to bring you more hidden gems locating in places that you may accidentally skip.

If you don't mind, please send me your pictures or suggestion to get featured on my future Edinburgh posts, it would be my biggest pleasure.
